Honoring my Father and All Who Served This Memorial Day

This Memorial Day, I pause to remember and honor my father, Sgt. Wayne Kenneth Massie, a Korean War veteran who served our nation with courage and devotion.

Memorial Day is more than a long weekend. It is a solemn reminder of the men and women who gave of themselves in service to our country, and especially those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Their service, sacrifice, and love of country helped preserve the freedoms we enjoy today.

As we gather with family, visit cemeteries, place flags, or simply take a quiet moment of reflection, may we never forget the cost of freedom. I am grateful for my father’s service, and I join in remembering all who served and all who gave their lives for this great nation.

May God bless our veterans, our fallen heroes, their families, and the United States of America.
